That sounds like Simple Solution to Rubik's Cube. Matt Parker has figured out a way to cheat and make it look like you can solve the Rubik's Cube—even though you have no freaking clue. The solutions of each cube vary from each other like the solution varies with diverse dimensions of life. This is probably my favorite puzzle as it change shape despite its simple design (more symmetrical than the Square-1). There are simple cube of 2x2, 3x3, 4x4, 5x5 and many other dimensions. For many people, the Rubik's cube is only this impossible-to-solve iconic puzzle from the 1980's but as the internet is providing more and more easy-to-follow solutions through java applets and youtube videos, more and more people have been able to solve it. It isn't designed for speed, though -- I still need about 2:20 to 2:30 for solving a cube. Rubik's cube solved in 26 moves; solution comes 20 years too late. As well, different are algorithm, permutation, probability and tricks . You have to remember that this was before the age of computers, when people where amused by simple things.
